Walking In Grace

Walking In Grace

“The most important thing is this: To be able, at any moment, to sacrifice what we are, for what we could become.”

Wow! This powerful quote from Charles Dubois impacted me so much when I read it. Doesn’t it just epitomize what Christian living is all about? When we accept Christ as our Savior, we are saved by grace. This has given us access to miracles, to see the supernatural power of God move, and to walk in His divine ability to heal and restore whatever is broken in our lives. Through Christ, we are transformed and made into a new creation in every way possible.

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” — 2 Corinthians 5:17

God’s gift of grace, given to us through Jesus’ death on the cross, frees us from the toil and struggle of the Old Covenant laws. There’s nothing we did or can do to earn God’s grace; it is a gift of love. All we have to do is receive it by faith!

You have to be ready and willing to sacrifice what you are or how you’re living now to walk out God’s steps for your life. If you just step out in faith, you can completely trust that God’s grace will see you through any circumstance.

“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith–and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God–not by works, so that no one can boast.” — Ephesians 2:8-9

God is love, and Jesus was the Father’s love in human form. His entire ministry on earth was about His love for us! Through Jesus, we are God’s handiwork. His good works should be the model of how we live in our daily walk. Walking in grace means responding to situations in life as Jesus would. Through the power of the Holy Spirit, God’s gift of grace empowers us to become the salt of the earth, the light of the world, and people whose impulses are bent toward love!

In our day-to-day experiences, we have opportunities to be more like Jesus–to actively choose to be patient, to be considerate, to help others, to pray. There are steps you can take every day make God’s grace a real, tangible force in your life.

  • Practice forgiveness.
Forgiveness isn’t just for the benefit of the people we forgive; it helps us, too! A spirit of unforgiveness traps us in anger. Forgiving others does not justify their actions, it releases us from bitterness and allows us to receive the healing we need.
  • Live by the fruit of the Spirit.
Galatians 5:22-23 tells us that “the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.” When you were born again, the seeds of each fruit of the Spirit were planted inside you, which gives you the ability to resist the devil and make the right decisions. The more you pray and reflect on God’s word, the more the fruit of the Spirit you will bear in your life.
  • Walk in love.
All the fruits of the Spirit are held in place by love. This love is not a feeling, but a choice. It is the choice to be kind, to sacrifice, to consider another’s needs above your own.
  • Turn the other cheek.
Turning the other cheek means not retaliating or responding in kind to someone who has wronged you. This isn’t an invitation to be a doormat or let people take advantage of you. Instead, we respond with love, as Jesus taught us to do.

Take just one step per day, every day, and as God works in you over time, it becomes your nature. Love and grace will dominate every aspect of your life and be visible to you and everyone you encounter.

It’s time to bring your life from ordinary to extraordinary!

Winning with you,

Damon Davis
